A real estate agent is only as valuable as their network. The largest part of building a network is effectively connecting with clients. But how do agents do this so successfully? Read more to find out.
Focus on the Person, Not the Sale
First and foremost: follow their lead. If a client clearly prefers phone calls to texts, then phone calls it is. The same goes for emails. Also, agents should be aware that these preferences can change from time of day (texting is easier during the day, for example) or even given the information.
Focusing on the person, not the transaction is a great place to start. Some agents even recommend trying to teach their clients something about real estate so they feel they have been given some information that can help them understand these big life changes.
When talking to agents about what works for them based on communication, so many mentioned that texting is the preferred way lately. So, it's worth mentioning here that if you aren't a savvy "text-er" that's a great place to start. From there, it's recommended to get real comfortable with social media. Clients can respond to your stories and vice versa.
An Agent's Role
Availability is a hard line to navigate as a real estate agent, but it's an important one. Part of being an efficient communicator and therefore a successful agent is being available. We aren't saying 24/7 - that would be violating some serious work/life balance guidelines - but availability is key as a real estate agent. Especially when it comes to building trust with clients.
Another responsibility of the agent is communicating in an honest and clear way. This makes everything go much more smoothly as real estate transactions can get tricky with all of the personal details and large sums of money. Because these things can be so personal to clients, many recommend meeting in person with clients ASAP to establish great communication habits.
There are so many different methods of communication and so many different types of people out there. Part of being a great real estate agent is figuring out what works for your clients communication style and going from there.
