Everybody has a bad habit or two (or three, or four). This is a part of our human nature and while it's important to always work on our bad habits, some are just along for the ride. However, when it comes to your business, it's more important than ever to ensure your habits are serving you and not causing any harm. These are some habits that agents need to drop sooner than later.
Starting the Day at a Deficit
If you wake up and already think you don't have enough time to get everything done - you've lost. While some days and seasons of life are surely busier than others, it doesn't mean that you need to wake up each morning and start the day at a deficit. Positive thinking and time management tips like time blocking are a great way to break this bad habit.
Not Keeping Up With the Times (Or Trends)
If you're going to drop one bad habit for your business - make it this one. Not keeping up with the times and trends is the number one bad habit that is keeping agents from successfully growing their business. Whether it's social media or the latest technology integrated at your showings or on your website; it's more important than ever to be on the pulse. A website that isn't integrative or isn't user friendly? Agents are truly just shooting themselves in the foot here.
Doing It All Themselves
Real estate agents are one of the professions where it's most common to struggle from your own self-inflicted habits. Habits, for instance, like doing it all yourself. If you work alone, great, hire an assistant. If you work on a team, also great, find a way to delegate there. Not following up on leads, falling behind in paperwork, or just doing a sloppy job - all of those things do the opposite of earning clients. So, stop trying to do it all yourself and learn to delegate.
