When business gets momentum, and an agent begins to expand their sphere of influence - things can get, well, busy. Knowing when it's time to hire out help is the mark of a strong business professional. A vital factor here is that agent's cannot get in their own way and hurt their own momentum. Of course, no agent wants to do this to themselves, but if they aren't able to be 2 places at once or their inbox is piling up - it isn't good for business.
Knowing When It's Time to Get Some Assistance
Here are some of the common signs of when it's time to hire out help:
- You regularly need to be multiple places at once.
- Your showings calendar is getting more and more booked out.
- Your emails are piling up.
- You are missing inquiries.
- Your social media is falling to the wayside.
- Your personal life is suffering.
Agents want to get ahead of these issues before they experience burnout. If an agent can take care of themselves and their business before burnout hits - they've won.
Who to Hire?
Hiring an assistant or something like it to help an agent is no small feat. The other person needs to fit within the business and make your life easier - not harder. This is why a lot of agents are hesitant to hire assistants. But, they need not let this fear continue to bog down their progress. While the search for and training of an assistant may be a learning curve; the payoff is well worth it.
If an agent is a broker maybe they can hire one of the agent's who hangs their license with them and could use some extra income. This person is already underneath the umbrella of the company. Another option would be to hire a coworker who has some time on their hands. This way they already are an agent and you don't have to teach them as much.
If those aren't valid choices, then agents can look online for administrative assistants who can help with paperwork and other duties. The reality is that if an agent can get help with fielding inquiries, organizing their calendar, and other administrative duties like paperwork - they can be far more efficient.
