Burnout is real - ask anyone around you. When one feels overwhelmed, over "it", or just done in general - odds are they're experiencing burnout. This happens when there's a lack of balance amongst the many aspects of life. Burnout can negatively impact everybody, but especially agents who are often solely responsible for generating their business.
Read on for some tips to avoid and overcome burnout!
On the Professional Side
Professionally speaking - there a few key things anybody can do to keep themselves balanced. First of all, organization is a great prevention tool when it comes to staying ahead of being overwhelmed. When all your ducks are in a row, everything seems much more manageable.
After being organized in importance, comes time management. We have a great article on time blocking which can help agents maintain efficiency and therefore avoid burnout. Nothing drives people more crazy than feeling like they're on a hamster wheel.
As an agent, it's important to remember to stay consistent, organized, and in charge of the day. Finding a niche in the real estate industry is another great way to void off any feelings of "I am just doing too much and can't keep it all together".
And of course, whenever possible, don't work with those who create or exacerbate stress!
On the Personal Side
Nothing impacts a personal life more than when burnout creeps into all aspects of a life! Self care is key here. While trendy in 2021, self care isn't to be shirked off.
Exercise, time with friends and family, and alone time without work are all key elements to avoiding being "done" with everything. Taking some time for deep breaths, a walk, and some uninterrupted fun are all great tools to stay in a healthy mindset.
Also, try not to be one of those people who never goes on a vacation or takes a day off. Even if the day off consists of catching up on laundry and Netflix - rest is important.
Above all else, try to get a decent amount of sleep and carve out time every week for something that brings joy and relaxation.
