Once agents get their feet under them, they might feel more inclined to do more in the real estate business. Some might even want to build a real estate business. But what does it really mean to build a business in real estate? Let's find out.
Business Plan
In order to create a real estate business, you pretty much have to create a brokerage. Otherwise far too much of the income from the agents involved won't be serving the business itself. So, starting there is key. If you're already a broker or want to become one soon - great, step 1 is complete.
Next, it's crucial to formulate a strategic business plan. This business plan will give everyone involved in building the business the necessary reminders and cornerstone for what the business is and what the business will be. A business plan will help keep everyone accountable and is absolutely necessary.
You'll Need a Team
Now that the brokerage is set-up and a business plan is in place; it's time to assemble the A-team. Building a team is what will make or break building a business so be sure to take this seriously.
Ensure that all agents chosen to come aboard are hard working, self-starters who want to be successful in the industry. Those who are wishy-washy aren't going to make the business any money. When the business starts earning money, some can go to marketing and branding, and those efforts turn right around and make the agents more money again. It's all a cycle but the key players must be working hard and focused on building their career.
Growth and Resilience
All businesses, large and small, require growth and resilience. Once you've got your business built and your team assembled - great. But what about when the economy tanks? Or when interest rates skyrocket? Real estate businesses need to be able to withstand some of these inevitable concerns. This is where other avenues of real estate like property management, and expanding your brokerage in other ways might come in handy.
Either way, if you can dream it - you can do it. If you are an agent wanting to build a real estate business; you're halfway there. Good luck!
