The last few years have been a lot for everyone. Even if you had some great wins in business (hello, estate market) or some wins in your personal life - it's unavoidable that things have been different for the world. So, heading into 2023, with a potential market shift on the horizon, many may feel anxious about what's to come. The holidays in general can inspire more feelings of burnout and exhaustion. So, avoiding burnout in 2023 is in everyone's best interest.
Read on for some tips to avoid and overcome burnout in 2023!
Professionally Speaking
Professionally speaking - there a few key things anybody can do to keep themselves balanced. First of all, organization is a great prevention tool when it comes to staying ahead of being overwhelmed. When all your ducks are in a row, everything seems much more manageable.
After being organized in importance, comes time management. We have a great article on time blocking which can help agents maintain efficiency and therefore avoid burnout. Nothing drives people more crazy than feeling like they're on a hamster wheel.
Remember that even if the market may change or you switch brokerages - the important stuff stays the same. The important stuff is you, your integrity, work-ethic, and resourcefulness. If you're feeling like how you're operating professionally isn't sustainable, chances are, it's not. So, take a good look at your professional mirror and see what can be adapted to better serve you while avoiding burnout.
Personally Speaking
Nothing impacts a personal life more than when burnout creeps into all aspects of a life! Self care is key here. While trendy in 2021 and into 2022, self care isn't to be shirked off.
Exercise, time with friends and family, and alone time without work are all key elements to avoiding being "done" with everything. Taking some time for deep breaths, a walk, and some uninterrupted fun are all great tools to stay in a healthy mindset.
Avoiding burnout requires self care. So, don't think you can just keep going and things will "eventually slow down" - it never works that way and it never will.
As we head into 2023, remember to put on your own oxygen mask first.
