Whether you're just starting out or you're a seasoned veteran - staying motivated can be downright tough as a real estate agent. Motivation can be hard to summon when you're in a personal or professional rut but here are some tips!
Mindset Over Everything
It's true. Mindset matters. So much in fact that it's the single most important step in staying motivated. If your mindset is negative, narrow, or otherwise shut down - chances are motivation won't be finding you anytime soon. It's important to keep an open, positive, and anticipatory mindset.
Treat each day as a fresh start and think of what can happen in a positive light. If things go south, or problems arise, try to stay calm and recognize that almost everything has a solution. Think outside the box when it comes to solutions so that you might be able to have as many parties win as possible.
Remember to think about the big picture. Day to day tedious tasks can become mundane and sometimes clients or other professionals are just downright hard to work with. Any career has aspects that aren't all roses but the real estate agent's profession also comes with some great things!
Also, it's incredibly important to note that sometimes a break and some self-care is necessary. Put your phone down an hour or so before you usually do. Don't check your emails every 10 minutes. Maybe even go on a vacation! Time away is equally as important as time grinding it out.
Rising Above
When deals fall through, you get a bad review, etc. - this can seem like the end of the world. At the very least, it puts a damper on your day. Staying motivated doesn't mean ignoring setbacks and not feeling downtrodden occasionally. It's okay to throw yourself a short pity-party - but then it's time to use these setbacks to fuel you forward.
Motivation can come from the good days as well as the bad days. The real trick here is sticking with it and staying consistent even when you don't want to. An example of rising above and getting a little bit better would be to respond to a negative review graciously and do one's best to rectify the situation.
It won't always be easy - but keep the goal in mind of being a successful agent with integrity and just keep going. If at first you don't succeed; try, try again!
