The term kitchen remodel is enough to send dollar signs flashing through one's mind along with picturing eating take-out for months on end.
But, it doesn't have to be that way! There are simple ways to remodel or revamp a kitchen.
Peruse these ideas for inspiration!
Start Small
Before walls start coming down and a kitchen remodel causes you to take a second out on your home - let's start small.
Sometimes kitchen remodels do mean a total overhaul - but whether you're trying to sell a home and need to spruce it up, or you just bought a home that needs some love on a budget - there are ways to do that!
Look at fixtures right away. Can cabinet pulls and handles be changed out to a style more suited to the home and the owner?
Could storage be better utilized so there is less clutter? Cubes are a great idea here if some items won't fit in cabinets.
Next, look at colors. Could anything other than "all the cabinets" or "the whole room" be painted to brighten things up a bit? Think islands, shelving, etc. At a loss for what to do? Bright white or a light gray is always a great option.
Speaking of shelves - that's another great tip! Add some shelves to display nice dishes, wine glasses, cookbooks, etc. Adding some style can go a long way. Design really is important so styling what space a kitchen does have with candles, dishware, and figurines can really make a difference.
Going Big (ish)
Alright, we've looked at the face value items like hardware and smaller scale "projects," but can we go big without going too big? Absolutely.
Starting with paint. In lieu of replacing all the cabinets, think about giving everything is a facelift with some paint. It's definitely less expensive, although it most likely won't be cheap. But! You could always DIY (do it yourself).
Is there just one old appliance that's really got the whole kitchen looking outdated? Check out Facebook Marketplace and keep an eye out for sales - maybe you can replace the old ugly dishwasher.
Next, take a look at some higher end fixtures. Like lighting or faucets. Getting a new faucet or adding some light fixtures that suit the home can give the room a whole new look as well. Have some light fixtures that need to stay for the time being? Try painting those if possible! And, never forget to replace flourescent lightbulbs with something more easy on the eyes.
Take one, two, three, or all of these tips and watch your kitchen transform.
