One of the hardest parts of being a real estate agent is the constant need to keep up the momentum. There's always people joining the industry, there is always competition - and depending on the market, sometimes there's a bit of a supply and demand issue when it comes to agents and clients. So, agents often feel the pressure to always be doing more and to not let their momentum dip at all.
How to Keep It Going
Momentum requires almost constant effort. If you want your business to coast - then you can relax. But, if you want your business to get to the next level, then you're going to need to work for it. The real estate industry is fast paced and needs consistency in order to maintain and grow. Consistent leads, consistent effort, consistent market conditions. While we can't control market conditions, we can gear up for what we think is coming and continue to educate our clients the best we can.
Keeping up networking efforts is another great way to keep your business in an upward trajectory. Set out at a booth at any local gatherings like concerts in the park or parades. Be involved in the community as much as possible and word of mouth will get around. Maintaining active and informative social media channels is another great way to earn clients.
When Things Slow Down
This is where the hustle really comes into being a real estate agent. It's incredibly important to always keep one finger on the pulse of the market and one on the pulse of your personal business. If the market is "great" and your business is slow then it's time to take a look at some key factors in your control.
Is your branding done well? Especially in 2022; prospective clients want to like the look of a website and a company. Outdated branding or even worse, branding that isn't cohesive, isn't doing anyone any favors. Ensure that your signs, cards, email signatures and any other merchandise are all representing your company in a modern and aesthetic way.
Is your website up and running properly? Ensure that your website is user friendly and has responsive design features. Without a site easily transferring to a mobile device than countless leads are lost. No one wants to work with an agent who is that behind on the times, especially when so much of real estate is online these days.
If your tech is under control than the next step is to ask for referrals from clients, start cold-calling, and above all - never give up.
