Advice from a Fellow Agent
Working as a real estate agent is a popular career choice for anyone looking for more freedom and control in their professional lives.
This can be attractive, especially if you’re a young real estate agent. But always remember that business is business. Success, like all other professions, comes with long hours. Also, the occasional sweat and tears are in order. Some agents might start their career by thinking working in real estate is going to be easy, but it can be harder than it seems.
Anwar shares the following to gain success in a new career:
1) My number one advice is: Networking. Forming relationships is very important either with realtors, neighbors, and your own community. If you put in the effort, sellers and buyers start to trust you.
2) Marketing & Social Media: You must make sure you are active on Social Media. Marketing plays a big role in real estate and as a new agent it's one of the best ways to communicate with others. You have your own platform to show your ability and express your passion & knowledge for real estate. As so many buyers & sellers also search to see who will be the perfect fit to help them sell or buy their home.
3) Choose a supportive Brokerage Firm. Your goal in finding a Brokerage should be how much value the company or team brings - not just how much the split is. Your concern should be how much training, guidance, and support can they bring to help you grow your business and form your career.
4) Don’t Give up/ Turn Negative into Positive. You must have your mind set to turn any negative into a positive. It might get discouraging at times when you feel you are new and sellers or buyers don’t have a reason to choose you. But remember you have to start somewhere. At times like these, think positive and have confidence. Projecting confidence will go a long way to helping your clients take you more seriously.
